Continuing a Father’s Artistic Legacy While Empowering the Next Generation – Traci Rabbit
On this episode of Beyond the Art, we meet Traci Rabbit, a Cherokee artist specializing in painting, reproductions, and gift items. Her work captures a spirit in the Native American woman that does indeed embody the best in female strength. Her paintings represent the way it feels to be female, to fly in the face of all that comes, with fierce dignity, energy and strength combined with capturing women’s ability to be gentle, yielding, kind and passionate.
Traci is the daughter of Cherokee National Treasure and internationally known artist Bill Rabbit and her mother Karen Rabbit. She was born at the Claremore Indian Hospital and grew up in the Pryor area. At an early age, she began accompanying her father to art shows including Santa Fe Indian Market and IACA. She eventually started finding her voice in her own art through the influence of her culture and family.
